Mujigae leaves three dead, forty-three missing in Philippines

Three people have been killed and 43 fishermen remained missing due to tropical depression Mujigae ( Local name Kabayan), a Philippine civil defense official reported on Monday.

Melchito Castro, director of the Office of Civil Defense-Ilocos Region, said the number of missing fishermen in the region was placed at 43 as of 5 p.m. on Monday.

The fishermen went out on fishing despite warning disseminated before Mujigae made the landfall. Officials said other fishermen encountered turbulent sea and strong winds while on the way back from fishing.

According to civil defense report, there were 40,841 families or 193,825 persons affected in Central Luzon, of which 124 families or 620 persons are staying in four evacuation centers. Endi
