The Islamic State (IS) militants on Sunday destroyed the centuries-old Triumphal Arch of the ancient city of Palmyra in central Syria, the country's museums chief told Xinhua.
The Triumphal Arch, which dates back to the second century AD, has been destroyed by the IS militants, just weeks after the terror group booby-trapped that picturesque arch, Maamoun Abdul-Karim, the head of the Damascus Department of Antiquities and Museums, told Xinhua by phone Sunday night. LISBON -- Portugal's center-right ruling coalition that enforced harsh austerity for the past four years, including spending cuts and tax hikes, is heading to their victory on Sunday despite the main opposition Socialist Party promising a less aggressive alternative, according to an exit poll.
The exit poll shows the coalition is set to win between 38-43 percent of the vote, while the Socialists are expected to win 30-35 percent of the vote. (Portugal-Election)

KABUL -- The death toll by air strikes at a hospital run by medical aid agency Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz city has risen to 22, the agency said in a statement on Sunday.
"Not a single member of our staff reported any fighting inside the MSF hospital compound prior to the U.S. air strike on Saturday morning. The hospital was full of MSF staff, patients and their caretakers. It is 12 MSF staff members and 10 patients, including three children, who were killed in the attack," the statement said.
