PNA official condemns Israeli arrest of patient from West Bank hospital

Xinhua, October 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

A senior Palestinian National Authority (PNA) official condemned on Sunday the Israeli army raid on a hospital in the West Bank city of Nablus and detaining one of the patients.

Jawad Awwad, the PNA health minister, said the Israeli force stormed a hospital in the city, beat up the medical crews and kidnapped one of the patients.

"This action is a clear message to the world that the Israeli occupation doesn't respect any of the international laws or the human rights treaties," Awwad sai, adding "these laws must be respected."

Meanwhile, a senior official from Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee held Israel responsible for the Palestinian violent reactions carried out by Palestinian individuals against Israel.

"The Israeli government and its policy is pushing the Palestinian people towards carrying out individual actions that are not organized and it isn't made in accordance to a political decision," Ahmed Majdalani told Xinhua.

Four Israelis and two Palestinians have been killed and several people were injured since Thursday in three separate attacks in northern West Bank and in the old city of Jerusalem.

Majdalani warned that the cycle of violence in the West Bank and in Jerusalem is enlarging, as "the behavior of the Israeli government creates uncountable and uncontrolled reactions, and it is responsible for it."

He also said that the current Israeli escalation against the Palestinians "aims at justifying an upcoming large-scale Israeli escalation under the pretext of fighting terrorism and to undermine the efforts to end the Israeli occupation."

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has flared in the past few days after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' speech at the UN General Assembly meeting held in New York.

Abbas announced that the Palestinians won't be committed to the signed treaties and agreements with Israel as long as Israel is violating it and doesn't respect or implement it.

Abbas also said that consequently "Israel has to bear the responsibility as an occupation authority." Endit
