Xinhua, October 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Eight people were injured after a bus collided with several cars on a street in Coventry Saturday evening, local police said.

West Midlands Police said among the eight injured people, three were seriously injured, and five others suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred around 6:00 p.m., when a double-decker bus collided with a number of stationary cars and a lamppost, and then crashed into a supermarket on Trinity Street.

According to local reports, a child was included in the injured people, and has been sent to a hospital for treatment.

A supermarket spokesman said that no staff of the supermarket was injured, but not told if any customers had been injured.

Police said local emergency services, including fire department and ambulance, also are working with the police to deal with the accident.

There is a cordon in place while an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision, police said.

A number of roads have been closed and buses are currently unable to drive into the city center. Endit
