Bolivia no longer the worst football team in South America, according to FIFA rankings

Having moved above Venezuela on FIFA rankings, the Bolivian football team is no longer the worst team in South America, the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) announced Thursday.

FBF director, Walter Zuleta, stated that a new era for Bolivian football would begin with the start of South American regional qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup, to be held in Russia. Bolivia will face Uruguay on October 8 to kick off this process at the Hernando Siles stadium in La Paz.

"We trust that the Bolivian selection will make a good showing during these qualifiers. We know that we have been at the bottom of rankings in recent years and for most of this year. This has now changed and we trust in the selection made by the coach, Julio Cesar Baldivieso," stated Zuleta.

Baldivieso added that his team will be composed of Bolivian players currently playing in the country and that he would seek for them to play an offensive style of football.

"We are working within an attacking framework but without overlooking defence. We know Uruguay has very good strikers, who can make life complicated for us," he explained. Endi
