The African Union (AU) has strongly condemned the attack on the AU-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), in North Darfur on Sunday.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the AU Commission, has learnt with great shock the attack by unidentified armed men on a logistic and administrative escort of UNAMID, in North Darfur, on Sunday, killing one South African peacekeeper and injuring four other uniformed peacekeepers, according to an AU statement on Wednesday. PRAGUE -- 500 Czech police officers and 300 troops participated in a joint exercise at the Czech-Austrian border to test the border protection on Wednesday.

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines -- At least 19 passengers were injured when an improvised bomb concealed as baggage exploded Thursday inside a bus along the highway in the township of Polomolok, South Cotabato, according to local police.

Police investigators said the unit of the Yellow Bus Company bearing the body number 2008 and plate number MWB 296 was traveling towards General Santos City when the bomb exploded at about 2 p.m. local time along the secluded stretch of national highway of Polomolok town. (Philippines-Blast)

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan -- Afghan security forces backed by the air power recaptured the northern Kunduz city and the cleanup operation continues in search for insurgents, Kunduz police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini said.

"The operations for recapturing Kunduz city backed by U.S. military aircraft began at 11:00 p.m. local time Wednesday and recaptured the city at 5:00 a.m. local time on Thursday," Hussaini told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Taliban-Military Operation)
