China moves up three places in FIFA rankings

Xinhua, October 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

China has moved up to the 81st position in the newly released FIFA world rankings, three slots higher than last month, according to the FIFA website.

China ranked seventh in the continental table, one slot higher after overtaking Iraq.

China earned four points in two matches of the 2018 World Cup Asian qualifiers in September. After an embarrassing fruitless draw with Hong Kong in Shenzhen on Sept. 3, China whitewashed the Maldives 3-0 to clinch the crucial three points.

China will meet the strongest rival Qatar in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in a week.

Iran ranked 39th, maintaining the top place in Asia, followed by South Korea and Japan.

Germany overtook Belgium and climbed to the second place while Argentina still topped the world rankings. Endi
