Togolese National Assembly Chairman Dama Dramani on Wednesday witnessed the inauguration ceremony of the new office building of the Confucius Institute of Lome University.

The new building which comprises amphitheater, language laboratory and class rooms is to provide better conditions for Chinese language and culture teaching in Togo.

The Confucius Institute began classes in Togo in 2009, registering to date over 1300 persons including Lome University students, public administration agents and businessmen.

To show their good Chinese language acquisition, some students of the Institute celebrated the inauguration by singing Chinese songs.

"A number of the former students of the Institute have found job in Chinese enterprises and are appreciated for their performance," Liu Yuxi, Chinese ambassador to Togo said.

He said that constructing a new building for the Confucius Institute of Lome University is part of the friendly cooperation between China and Togo.

"It fully shows China's readiness to support Togo in educational field,"ambassador Liu said.

Togo's Minister of Higher Education and Research Nicoue Octave Broohm said, "Now a modern and appropriate environment is offered to allow Chinese language learners to easily learn or deepen their knowledge."

"This beautiful complex now significantly enriches the patrimony of Lome University," he said, hoping that Confucius Institute of Lome University will help enhance cultural, educational and scientific exchanges between universities of both Togo and China.

"This is the result of strong mobilization and resolute cooperation commitment between Lome University, China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (Hanban) and Sichuan International Studies University,"Messanvi Gbeassor, Lome University President said.

Takara Kouli'nte, second year student at Confucius Institute, said it will be comfortable to learn in the new class room.

"The equipment in the laboratory are the source of great excitation for Chinese language learning,"said the 23-years-old student. Enditem
