Iran gets back on winning track with win over Palestine

Xinhua, September 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Iran returned to wining ways after a heartbreaking loss to the Philippines on Monday, demolishing Palestine 94-48 on Tuesday at the FIBA Asia Championship.

Palestine, the dark horse of the tournament, trailed by only three points after the first quarter. But then the first-time participant was forced scoreless by the defending champion for nine minutes.

Iran led 43-20 by halftime and enlarged the margin to 40 before the final period, proving that their size, depth or energy were just too much for the Palestinians.

Hamed Haddadi and Asghar Kardoust combined for 29 points and 22 rebounds, while veterans Mahdi Kamrani and Saeid Davarpanah also scored in double-figures for Iran.

Palestine will be relegated to the games that will determine 9th to 12th places. Endi
