British FTSE 100 slumps 2.46 pct on Monday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Monday decreased by 2.46 percent, or 150.15 points, to 5,958.86 points.

The London stock index was dragged lower by a slump in mining stocks on Monday.

Commodities group Glencore's share price plunged to record low as the investment bank Investec warned the value of the company could evaporate. investors also concerned a prolonged commodity downturn mounted.

Glencore led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 29.42 percent, followed by Anglo American (10.09 percent), BHP Billiton (6.03 percent), Antofagasta (4.94 percent) and Standard Chartered (4.91 percent).

Share price of SABMiller increased by 1.30 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. BAE Systems, ITV, National Grid and Morrison (Wm) Supermarkets increased by 1.02 percent, 0.93 percent, 0.80 percent and 0.78 percent respectively. Endit
