India win 2nd straight after beating Hong Kong 76-71

India got the their second straight win after beating Hong Kong, China, 76-71 at the FIBA Asia Championship on Monday.
In the previous day, India took down Palestine who topped Group B with three wins in the first round, and the victory on Monday raised their hope of making into the quarter-final.
India were outscored for most part of the game, but the final three minutes turned out to be crucial.
Amjyot Singh held a leading place of all players at the tournament after four games in scoring with 101 points in total and 25.3 points on average. The 23-year-old power forward had a game-high 26 points, which was enough to get India the victory.
Hong Kong came short of winning their first game in the second stage. Wong Chun Wai topped the team with 21 points. Duncan Overbeck Reid and Chan Siu Wing made 16 and 17 points respectively.
Hong Kong played a tough first half, grabbing five more rebounds than the opponents. India didn't have any free-throw score in the entire half.
Hong Kong started the game quick, leading over India 19-10 before finishing the first period 19-14. India came over to move within one point, only to see Hong Kong making a series of fastbreaks to broaden the advantage again. The first half ended with Hong Kong leading 39-34.
Indian top scorer Amjyot Singh, who averaged 25.3 points in the first four games, got 18 in the first two periods. Wong Chun Wai and Duncan Overbeck Reid combined 26 for Hong Kong.
The third quarter continued with Hong Kong leading, but India were not far behind. Leading 56-53 into the fourth quarter, Hong Kong began to be overwhelmed in painting area. India took as many as 17 rebounds in the third quarter, while Hong Kong got only seven.
Hong Kong kept the advantage for most part of the final quarter, holding a 64-60 lead with less than four minutes left. However, the Indian big men and shooters showed their efficiency in the decisive three minutes, powering a 15-7 run to take home the victory.
India will next face the Philippines in the final game of the second stage on Tuesday, and Hong Kong will take on Japan. Enditem
