Toll of Indian pilgrims in Mecca tragedy rises to 22

India has said that the death toll of its nationals in Thursday's stampede near the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia has risen to 22.

"The number of Indian lives lost in Haj stampede has now risen to 22. Some more bodies are to be identified," External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted Saturday.

She added: "We are facilitating visits of relatives of missing pilgrims and tour operators to the complex for identification."

Over 700 pilgrims were killed and 800 others injured in the stampede that broke out in Mina near Mecca Thursday. Endi
