Roundup: China, Iran and Palestine unbeaten at Asian Championship

China wrapped up first place in Group C at the FIBA Asia Championship with an 84-67 victory over Jordan here on Friday.

The host keeps an unbeaten 3-0 record at the tournament, as well as defending champion Iran, and the surprising Palestine.

China broke open a tight game late in the first half and stormed to the win. They shut out Jordan the first four minutes and 29 seconds of the third quarter.

Zaid Addas, who scored 15 of Jordan's 22 points, picked up his fourth foul early in the third period, which made Jordan extremely hard to play.

China had a combined 42 points from players who came off the bench but Yi Jianlian is still the soul of the team as the former NBA player finished with a match-high 26 points and 14 rebounds.

China completed a 3-0 sweep of Group C and will play against Qatar, Kazakhstan and Lebanon in the second stage.

Defending champion Iran took a comfort 122-42 victory over Malaysia to top Group A while Japan beat India 83-65 for the second place.

In Group B, the Philippines thrashed Kuwait at 110-64. Hong Kong, China lost to unbeaten Palestine at 79-85.

Chinese Taipei beat Qatar 72-64 to seize their first victory of the tournament, but still failing to make into the second stage while Lebanon beat Kazakhstan at 91-55. Edni
