Iran crushes Malaysia at FIBA Asia Championship

Defending champion Iran took a comfort 122-42 victory over Malaysia in a one-sided Group A match at the 2015 FIBA Asia Championshiop here on Friday.

The Iranians, who are just too strong for their opponents, set the tone early by outscoring Malaysia 35-5 in the first quarter, which almost killed the match.

Malysia, who has no professional player on the roster, managed to score only eight points in the first half while Iran took 62.

Iran showed some mercy in the second half as they lowered some guard which gave Malaysia chances to score. Choo Wei-Hong led Malaysia with 16 points.

Six Iranian players finished with double-figures. Mohammad Hassanzadeh took a double-double of 28 points and 18 rebounds. Hamed Ehadadi did not play.

The reigning Asian champion leads Group A without a defeat and qualifies for the second stage will a 2-0 record. Endi
