China pledges to strengthen pragmatic cooperation with Britain

Xinhua, September 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that China is willing to deepen pragmatic cooperation with Britain and share development opportunities, adding that British finance minister George Osborne's recent visit to China achieved good results.

"China-Britain ties have sound development momentum," spokesman Hong Lei said, adding that China stands ready to deepen pragmatic cooperation with Britain to push bilateral ties to a new high.

Hong's comment came after a successful China-Britain economic dialogue held on Monday, co-chaired by Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai and Osborne.

The 7th China-Britain Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) resulted in 53 agreements, ranging from nuclear energy and high-speed rail to an expanded currency swap line.

The two sides agreed to strengthen financial cooperation and advance negotiations on the China-European investment treaty.

Hong said cooperation between China and Britain, two important countries with global influence, will not only benefit the two countries and two peoples, but also help the world economic recovery. Enditem
