Xinhua News Agency and Notimex of Mexico have agreed to step up cooperation in various areas as the heads of the two news organizations met.

Cai Mingzhao, president of Xinhua News Agency, met with Notimex President Alejandro Ramos in Xinhua headquarters in Beijing on Tuesday afternoon.

Cai said Xinhua is ready to exchange experience of news operation development with Notimex to contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and friendly exchanges between the people of the two countries.

Noting that China and Mexico enjoy a time-honored friendship though the two countries are far apart, Cai said that news organizations shoulder the important mission of enhancing friendly contact between the two countries. He called for the news organizations of both China and Mexico to expand cooperation so as to match the pace of development in the China-Mexico ties.

Cai emphasized that Xinhua places great importance on its news coverage of Mexico and other Latin American countries. He expressed the readiness to further advance cooperation with Notimex in all areas on the basis of close cooperation over more than three decades.

Ramos said he is glad to see that Xinhua has made impressive effort in expanding operation into new media. Noting that Notimex has maintained close cooperation with Xinhua over the years, Ramos expressed the readiness to further strengthen cooperation between the news organizations in various areas, including promoting national image and addressing the challenge of technological revolution.

Ramos was in Beijing to attend an international forum on the "Belt and Road" initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Endi
