WB, IMF annual meetings to generate 12 mln USD for Peru: minister

Xinhua, September 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

The annual meetings of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) slated here for Oct. 5-12 will generate over 12 million U.S. dollars in commercial revenue, Peru's Finance Minister Alonso Segura said Tuesday.

Revenues will come from hotels, transportation and food businesses, as well as travel agencies, he said.

Segura said over 12,000 foreign visitors are expected to visit Lima for the eight-day meeting.

Lima, which will see finance ministers and central bank governors from 188 countries during the meeting, would become the economic capital of the world for the duration, he said.

Furthermore, representatives of international development agencies, Fortune 500 executives, investors, special guests and various experts will join the meeting, making the eight days among the most important in the global financial calendar. Endi
