Roundup: PSG trounce Guingamp, Reims secure draw with Angers in Ligue 1

Xinhua, September 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

With Javier Pastore, Angel Di Maria and Zlatan Ibrahimovic all grabbed their first goals of the season, Paris Saint-Germain trounced Guingamp 3-0 on Tuesday to lead Ligue 1.

The home victory made PSG maintain their unbeaten start of this season after Laurent Blanc's team collected two disappointing draws with Bordeaux and Reims in previous league meetings.

Starting strongly as expected, the hosts opened scoring in the 18th minute when Pastore latched on to Ibrahimovic's through ball before beating Guingamp goalkeeper Jonas Lossl with a clinical finish.

With 13 minutes left to play, PSG got a second goal as Lossl spilled Ibrahimovic's effort after he was fed in by Marco Verratti before Di Maria pounced to wrap up the points.

There was still time for the hosts to add a third and miss a penalty when Ibrahimovic latched on to Di Maria's through ball before slotting it beyond Lossl.

Guingamp, who came into the clash on the back of three successive wins without conceding a goal, remain in eighth as the victory sent PSG four points clear at the top for 24 hours at least.

In the only other seventh round match on Tuesday, Reims extended their unbeaten run to four matches after drawing goalless at Angers.

Both teams have 12 points but the fourth-place Reims stood one spot above Angers on goal difference. Endi
