The presidents of Senegal, Togo, Benin and Nigeria were to travel to Burkina Faso's capital city late Tuesday to help resolve the political stalemate following a military coup last week, a security source told Xinhua.

The heads of state -- Macky Sall of Senegal, Thomas Yayi Boni of Benin, Mahamoudou Buhari of Nigeria and Faure Gnassingbé of Togo --came from an emergency summit meeting of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) being held Tuesday in Abuja, Nigeria, on the crisis in Burkina Faso, according to the source.

There were reports saying they arrived in Ouagadougou around 7 p.m. (1900 GMT), accompanied by the United Nations regional envoy in West Africa. Endit
