Hollande congratulates new Australian PM, vows cooperation on global challenges

French President Francois Hollande on Tuesday congratulated the Australian entrepreneur Malcolm Turnbull over his victory in the ruling Liberal Party's vote to become the country's new prime minister.

In a phone conversation, Hollande and Turnbull talked about international issues and the fight against terrorism in Iraq and Syria, noting that the two countries "have great convergence" on these issues.

They also discussed Australia's participation in the Paris Climate Conference, scheduled for Nov. 30 to Dec. 11. Enditem
