1st LD: Blast rocks Syria's Homs, casualties feared: state TV

Xinhua, September 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

A car bomb blast rocks a pro-government district of Syria's central city of Homs on Tuesday, leaving unknown number of casualties, state-run TV reported.

The explosion rocked the al-Zahra'a neighborhood, which is mostly inhabited by people of the Alawite sect.

The TV has yet to give details on the blast, which is not the first to target that exact neighborhood.

Late August, a car bomb blast in al-Zahra'a killed four people and wounded 25 others.

The neighborhood along with other districts of Homs loyal to the government has suffered from repeated suicide bombings, as well as rocket and mortar fire from rebels entrenched in the countryside of Homs, Syria's third largest city. Endit
