Xinhua, September 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Units of police backed by the army have killed more than two dozen Taliban militants during a series of operations across the war-torn Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Monday.

"A total of 25 Taliban rebels have been killed and 20 other sustained injuries during cleanup operations across the country over the past 24 hours," the statement asserted.

During the operations which have been conducted in parts of Nangarhar, Badakhshan, Sar-e-Pul, Kandahar, Oruzgan, Ghazni, Khost and Helmand provinces, nine more insurgents have been captured, the statement further said.

It didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.
