Nightclub actors detained for spreading "murder" video

Xinhua, September 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Three nightclub actors have been detained by police in the northern Chinese city of Qiqihaer for making and spreading a "murder" video.

A video dubbed the "Qiqihaer Tangrenjie Street Murder" went viral in the city last week, police said in a statement on Sunday.

The video, published at a video-sharing website, showed a man shot and falling to the ground by another who demanded he pay debts.

It was found to have been made and posted online by three nightclub actors "who want to gain attention and become popular on the internet," the statement said.

The suspects were detained. Police seized two starting pistols, which the suspects disguised as guns in the video.

Spreading false information that may cause public alarm in China is a crime, punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years. Endi
