Chinese top legislator meets Zimbabwean guests

Xinhua, September 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang on Friday lauded the deep and robust friendship between China and Zimbabwe.

Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks when meeting visiting Zimbabwe Senate Speaker Edna Madzongwe and her entourage in the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang said President Xi Jinping and Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe had jointly outlined a blueprint for future growth of bilateral relations last year.

Both sides, he said, should implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state by turning their mutual trust into fresh impetus for cooperation.

Zhang said the NPC was ready to improve the friendly relations with the Zimbabwe parliament by stepping up exchanges at various levels, exchanging experience on governance of the country, improving the legal environment for trade and economic cooperation and expanding people-to-people contact.

He called for more cooperation to add fresh content to their time-honored friendship and carry on friendly relations in a sustainable way.

Madzongwe said Zimbabwe placed great importance on the friendly relations with China. She expressed the wish to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries so as to lift the level of bilateral cooperation. Endi
