Two handed death penalty for gambling den blast killing 15

Two men in Guizhou Province, southwest China, have been sentenced to death for an explosion at a gambling den that killed 15 people, a local court said Friday.

Yang Wenlong and Yang Panzhong were found guilty of causing the explosion, as well as stealing explosives and other goods from the remote gambling den in Laoshan Village, Kaili City, the Qiandongnan Prefecture People's Court said in its verdict.

The explosion on Jan. 13, 2014, also seriously injured four and slightly injured 14.

Both defendants said they would appeal against the first-instance verdict. Endi
