Zambian leader implores diplomats to boost investment

Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Thursday received credentials from ambassadors from six countries and implored them to help market Zambia's investment potential in order to increase their countries' investment portfolio.

The Zambian leader received credentials from new ambassadors accredited to Zambia from Italy, Greece, Spain, Iran, Israel and Pakistan during a ceremony at State House, his office said in a statement.

The Zambian leader said the country's central location in Arica offers a huge market for business investment and that his government will continue to promote private sector-driven economy in order to boost economic growth.

His government, he said, was also encouraging the setting up of joint venture projects between local and foreign investors especially in agriculture, tourism, energy, manufacturing and mining sectors.

The Zambian leader further expressed gratitude for the cooperation and assistance various countries have rendered to Zambia over the years.

Meanwhile, the new ambassadors pledged to strengthen bilateral ties with Zambia, according to the statement.

Italian Ambassador to Zambia Filipo Scammacca Del Murgo E-Dellagnone said his country had the capacity to help Zambia transform its economy while Israeli Ambasador to Zambia Gershon Kedar said his country will endeavor to enhance bilateral relations with Zambia. Endit
