Xinhua, September 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Myanmar's ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) launched electoral campaigning on its turn through the state radio and TV on Thursday night.

USDP general secretary U Tin Niang Thein presented to the nation the party's policy, political stance and objectives of entering the election set for Nov. 8.

U Tin Niang Thein said in his speech representing the party that the present government has initiated reforms after its assumption of office in 2011 and will continue to carry on them.

He cited the achievements made by the government, headed by President U Thein Sein, who is also the party chairman and in the past four years had brought about socio-economic development.

He promised that the party will continue to strive for amending the constitution to suit the changing era.

On domestic armed conflicts, he said the government is making efforts to achieve eternal peace in the country.

Radio and TV campaigning began on Sept. 8 and is allowed twice for each political party on rotary basis until Nov. 6, two days before the election kicks off.

The 2015 general election will produce representatives to the next parliament which will take effect from the end of January next year. Endi
