Refugees walk across border cities from Austria to Germany

Xinhua, September 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Many refugees walked from the Austrian border city of Salzburg towards Germany on Wednesday, due to the interrupted train traffic between the two countries.

Currently, a group of about 400 refugees, who have already crossed the border, is expected by Germany, local media Bavarian Radio reported.

Those people were accompanied by German federal police towards the German city of Freilassing, from where they might then have ridden buses and been taken to a registration center, the report said.

At the moment, it is still unclear how many more refugees will also take the path and walk across the frontier city, as many people are still waiting at the train station in Salzburg to continue their journey.

In addition, more than 1,000 refugees have been detained since Tuesday along the border river Inn in the districts of Passau and Rottal-Inn. According to media reports, those refugees had reached the German side on foot over bridges and dams.

At the Munich train station, the influx situation of refugees has eased considerably by the interrupted train traffic. According to the police, only some smaller groups have arrived in the afternoon. Endit
