Turkish Galatasaray lost 2-0 to visiting Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night in their Turk telecom Center at the opening match of Group C in Euro Champions League.

Atletico Madrid took the lead in 18th and 25th minutes of the first half with the scoring of French play maker Antoine Griezmann.

Turkish club barely had chance to test the opponent goal keeper Jan Oblak in the first 45 minutes. Even though the home team did create some goal scoring opportunities in the second half, they did not grab any of them.

German forward Lukas Podolski played alongside Wesley Sneijder in support of lone striker Burak Yilmaz in attack for the Turkish club but he missed maybe the best chance to score at the 66th minute by falling rather than shooting while facing the ball passing by teammate.

The Spanish outfit joining hands with Portuguese Benfica who defeated Kazakhstan Astana in Lisbon with 2-0 lead the Group C after the first round. Endit
