Croatia prepares emergency plan for possible refugee wave

Xinhua, September 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Croatia has prepared an emergency plan for potential influx of refugees who might go through the country to Germany after Hungary closed its borders, Croatian Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic said on Tuesday.

Ostojic did not release details but said the plan defined the actions of all sectors of the state administration and coordination with all who could help.

The plan would be activated soon if refugees massively flooded Croatia, he said, adding if there was a wave of thousands of refugees, it was the time the regular measures on the border could no longer be applied.

There were reports in local media that Croatia has not been a destination for refugees so far, but it was possible they would arrive after Hungary put up fences on its borders. Enditem
