Urgent: Gold edges lower as U.S. dollar extends gains

Gold futures on the COMEX division of the New York Mercantile Exchange closed lower on Tuesday as the U.S. dollar modestly rallied for a second straight session, and European and U.S. stocks regained their footing.

The most active gold contract for December delivery lost 5.1 U.S. dollars, or 0.46 percent, to settle at 1,102.60 dollars per ounce. Enditem
