Spanish treasury places 4.9 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury placed treasury bills valued at 4.936 billion euros (5.585 billion U.S. dollars) on the market on Tuesday, registering a high demand close to 10 billion euros.

A total of 4.463 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of 0.048 percent, while the remaining 472.90 million euros worth of six-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of zero percent.

After the auction, Spanish risk premium fell to 139.90 points from the 144 points of early trading.

So far, the Spanish treasury has placed around 111.2 billion euros of medium and long-term debt on the market, which represented 78.3 percent of the country's financial needs for the year. Endit
