20 million euro profit for FC Barcelona

Xinhua, September 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Board of Directors of FC Barcelona have confirmed that the club's budget for the 2015/16 season will be 633 million euros (around 700 million dollars).

Meanwhile the club also published the fact that its expected net profit for the 2014/15 campaign was 20.2 million euros.

2014/15 was the second most successful season in Barca's history as the side coached by Luis Enrique won a treble of the BBV Primera Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

They kicked off the current season by claiming the European Supercup, beating Sevilla 5-4 in a thrilling final, but were denied a fifth title in 2015 when Athletic Club Bilbao defeated them 5-1 on aggregate in the Spanish Supercup. Nevertheless Barca still have high hopes of a fifth title which they can claim if they win the World Club Championship in December.

The club has also confirmed it is going to launch a charity project to help refugees and it will give details of that campaign in the coming days.

This sees Barca follow the example of clubs such as Eibar, who are donating five euros for every ticket sold for next weekend's game against Atletico Madrid, Athletic Club Bilbao and Real Madrid, who have said they will donate a million euros to help refugees who are relocated to Spain.

The Barca and Atletico Madrid teams both wore T-shirts carrying the motto 'Help the Refugee' ahead of their league match on Saturday evening.as Spanish football continues to show its support for people looking to escape the conflict in Syria and Iraq. Endi
