21 hotels open in Portugal amid economic revival

Xinhua, September 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Portugal will see nine more hotels open by the end of this year, bringing the total number in 2015 to 21, as the country witnesses an economic revival, it was reported Monday.

According to a report published on the Lisbon Tourism Association's official website, new hotel units expected to open include Vincci Seleccion Lisboa and Hotel Riverside Alfama.

Portugal saw 12 new hotel units open up in 2014.

Tourism is expected to account for 15.8 percent of Portugal's GDP for 2015 and the tourist activity is expected to hit a new high this year.

Though public debt still amounts to around 130 percent of GDP, Portugal's economy returned to growth last year and tourism and export sectors have helped put the country back on track.
