Sci-fi writers urged to play a part in national revival

Xinhua, September 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sci-fi writers were encouraged by Vice President Li Yuanchao to inspire creativity among the public to realize the Chinese Dream.

Li met a group of renowned sci-fi writers in Beijing on Monday, including Liu Cixin, author of "The Three-Body Problem" and the first Chinese writer to win the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2015.

Noting the influence imagination has in scientific development and social progress, Li reminded the writers of the role they played in the national revival cause.

Sci-fi writers are expected to inspire the younger generation to be interested in science and stoke their faith in realizing the Chinese Dream, Li said.

He urged the writers that their works should combine scientific imagination with humanity and social ideals.

He also promised that the country will support their cause and spend more resources on promotion of science. Endit
