Would-be suicide bomber captured in E. Afghanistan

Security forces captured a would-be suicide bomber in the eastern Kunar province with Assadabad as its capital, 185 km east of the national capital Kabul city, on Sunday, a statement of Interior Ministry released here said.

"Acting on tip off, units of National Police in coordination with National Directorate for Security (NDS) launched a joint operation to arrest a suicide bomber at 08:30 a.m. local time who was planning to launch suicide attack in Marwara district today morning," the statement said.

Two suicide vests were also recovered from the possession of the arrested terrorist, the statement added.

The statement didn't identify the name and nationality of the would-be suicide bomber.

Afghan and foreign militants who are active in parts of the mountainous Kunar province bordering Pakistan's lawless tribal areas and challenging government are yet to make comment. Endi
