Chinese shares rebounded to positive territory on Friday as the government ramped up efforts to prop up the economy.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.07 percent to end at 3,200.23 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.37 percent to close at 10, 463.69 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ- style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.05 percent to close at 2,060.51 points.
Total turnover on the two bourses was 516.1 billion yuan (81.1 billion U.S. dollars), down from 610.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower on Friday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) declined 20.74 points, or 1.06 percent, to 1,941.37 at the close. Trading volume stood at 497.25 million shares worth 4.61 trillion won (3.89 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended mixed Friday on concerns over a U.S. monetary policy meeting next week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 35.40 points, or 0. 19 percent, from Thursday at 18,264.22. In contrast, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 0.71 point, or 0.05 percent, higher at 1,480.23.

HONG KONG -- Taiwan's share prices closed up 0.44 percent Friday with the weighted index up 37.14 points at 8,305.82, according to news reaching here from Taipei.
Turnover totaled 79.49 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.45 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Friday up 0.71 percent against the previous trading day.
The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 8.94 points to 1,250.39. A total of 1,351 shares worth about 8 million Lao kip (about 1,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks moved down 58.13 points, or 0.27 percent on Friday at 21,504.37 points.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 21,472.16 and 21, 909.82. Turnover totaled 87.14 billion HK dollars (about 11.24 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 566.74 points on Friday, down 5.33 points, or 0.93 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 94.986 million shares worth 1.422 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (64.97 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 87 stocks went up, 112 stocks fell down, while 86 stocks remained unchanged.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.26 percent higher on Friday.
The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 17. 84 points to 6911.38. The all-share index went up by 9.30 points, or 0.24 percent, to 3963.65.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 77.53 points on Friday, down 0.26 points, or 0.33 percent, against the previous trading session.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,603.60, down 10.42 points or 0.65 percent, and the Emas was at 11,029.12, down 37.88 points or 0.34 percent.
Turnover declined to 2.23 billion shares valued at 1.86 billion ringgit Malaysia (430.56 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.83 billion shares valued at 2.02 billion ringgit Malaysia (465.44 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday.
