Spain's industrial production rises by 5.8 pct in July

Spain's industrial production rose by 5.8 percent in July when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to the Index of Industrial Production (IPI) published on Thursday by the Spanish Statistical Office (INE).

Production of consumer goods rose by 1.8 percent in July when compared with the same month of a year earlier with production of durable consumer goods and production of non-durable consumer goods rising by 3.8 percent and 1.6 percent respectively.

Production of capital goods rose by 10.9 percent and production of intermediate goods and energy rose by 3.9 percent and 9.2 percent respectively.

On a month-to-month basis, the INE said that industrial production rose by 0.6 percent from June to July.

Production of energy rose by 3.3 percent, production of non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.6 percent, production of intermediate goods rose by 0.1 percent, while production of durable consumer goods fell by 0.7 percent.

Spain's industrial production has been rising for six months on a year-on-year basis. Due to the crisis, it rose for the first time in 2014 after having fall since 2007, when the economic crisis started. Endit
