Tokyo stocks dived 2.51 percent Thursday on profit-taking after massive gains of the previous day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 470.89 points, from Wednesday at 18,299.62. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 27.85 points, or 1. 85 percent, to 1,479.52.

Decliners were led by mining, insurance, oil and coal products.

The turnover was 2,599.27 billion yen (about 21.57 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
