Wrongly boarding causes Ryanair flight turns back to Malta

Xinhua, September 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ryanair Flight FR 3475 from Malta to Dutch city Eindhoven returned to Malta International Airport (MIA) on Wednesday morning due to three passengers were boarding another plane.

Although their luggage had been loaded, the three passengers mistakenly boarded a bus which was taking passengers to an Air Malta flight bound for Dusseldorf.

An MIA spokesman said: "The Air Malta flight was boarding from Gate seven while Ryanair was boarding from Gate nine, with Gate eight purposely reserved as a holding area.

"Air Malta crew identified the error, the Ryanair captain was alerted and the flight turned back."

The spokesman said MIA will be looking into the matter further with the respective stakeholders to avoid a repetition.

In this June, an Italian couple, who got stuck in traffic on their way to the airport and were not allowed on board because the gate was closed, forced open a security door, ran to the apron and began signaling to the pilots to let them onto the plane. The couple was fined 2,329 euros (2,656 U.S. dollar). Endit
