Spanish number one Rafael Nadal returns to Spain's Davis Cup team for the country's vital tie against Denmark which the Spanish need to win in order to maintain themselves in the second division of World tennis.
The captain of the Spanish team, Conchita Martinez confirmed the presence of the Mallorcan, as that of David Ferrer in a press conference on Tuesday.
Nadal and Ferrer will be joined in the team by Roberto Bautista and Fernando Verdasco with David Marrero as substitute.
Nadal's inclusion is a surprise given that he had not played for his country since 2013, as a result of the physical problems which have dogged him over the past couple of years.
"I am very happy to have Nadal and all of the other members of the team," said Martinez.
"We have a very strong team," said the former Wimbledon ladies champion, who admitted she had not spoken to Nadal since his defeat in the third round of the US Open last week.
"He is not in his best moment in terms of results, but he is getting close to being the Rafael Nadal we all known and we hope that the week will be very positive for him... You want your best players in the Davis Cup," confirmed the captain. Endit
