The Week of Chile in China had been "excellent", said director of economic relations at the Chilean Foreign Ministry Andres Rebolledo on Saturday.
This event, which will be held annually, was dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral ties between Chile and China.
A Chilean delegation of public and private sector representatives was led by former president Eduardo Frei and sought to attract more Chinese investment to Chile while boosting Chilean exports, especially in agricultural produce.
Between Aug. 23 and 28, Beijing and Shanghai saw over 550 meetings between Chilean entrepreneurs and Chinese importers, particularly in the areas of agriculture, energy, mining and infrastructure.
Chile signed an agreement with Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba. The Chilean businessmen had a chance to interact with consumers in promotion activities in Beijing and Shanghai.
"We have agreements for free trade, to protect investments, and on dual taxation, meaning that all the conditions are there to safeguard investments," said Frei. "We now want Chinese companies to arrive in Chile as they have arrived in many other countries."
The Week of Chile in China followed Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's successful visit to Chile in May, when the two countries signed numerous economic cooperation agreements. Endi
