Ex-Brazil winger Bastos scores in Sao Paulo win

Xinhua, September 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Brazil international winger Michel Bastos was on the scoresheet as Sao Paulo defeated Internacional 2-0 in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.

Bastos latched onto a slick Paulo Henrique Ganso pass to fire in a low 72nd-minute strike after Rogerio gave the hosts the lead with a header just after halftime.

The result lifted Sao Paulo to fourth in the 20-team standings with 38 points from 23 matches while Internacional dropped to 11th with 31 points.

Meanwhile, Atletico Mineiro continued Vasco da Gama's dismal run with a 2-1 victory at Rio's Maracana stadium.

Lucas Pratto and Jesus Datolo scored first-half goals for the visitors before Nene struck late for Vasco.

Atletico remain second in the standings with 45 points while Vasco are last with just 13 points. Endi
