Eight police officers were killed in Tajikistan early Friday in attacks by a terrorist group on the outskirts of the capital Dushanbe and in the adjacent town of Vahdat.

Information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs indicated that the terrorist group which had seized arms and ammunition was led by Major General Abduhalim Nazarzoda, the country's deputy defence minister.(Tajikstan-Police-Attacks)

DAMASCUS -- At least 26 people were killed and 22 others wounded on Friday when two explosions rocked the predominantly-Druze city of Swaida in southern Syria, the state news agency SANA reported.

The first blast took place at the Daher al-Jabal area in Swiada, said the report, giving no more details. It added that the second explosion was caused by a booby-trapped car that went off near the National Hospital of Swaida.(Syria-Explosion)

LONDON -- The pilot of a light aircraft has been killed in a crash in Northamptonshire, a county in the East Midlands of England, BBC reported on Friday.

HELSINKI -- The latest estimate made by the Finnish Ministry of Interior suggested that the number of asylum seekers arriving in Finland this year could reach 30,000.

ABU DHABI -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said on Friday that 22 Emirati soldiers were killed during the operation "Restore Hope" to reinstall the "legitimate government" in Yemen, local media reported.

The reports said that these soldiers were killed during an accident when a blast at an ammunition store of the 107th Brigdae occurred in the eastern Yemeni oil province of Marib.(UAE-Killing-Yemen) Endit
