Trump blasts another primary debate moderator as "third-rate radio announcer"

Xinhua, September 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

For those wondering how billionaire developer Donald Trump would get along with moderators of the next Republican primary debate, the GOP presidential front-runner on Friday shared his thought.

"(He is) a third-rate radio announcer," Trump took the opportunity in an interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Friday morning to take a shot at the popular conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.

The insult came a night after Hewitt stumped the real estate mogul on the air with foreign policy questions.

Hewitt, who will co-host the second Republican primary debate slated for Sept. 16, asked Trump whether he knew leaders of major terrorist groups.

No, Trump said.

"Every question was, 'Do you know this one or know that one?'" he bristled on Friday's interview with MSNBC.

"By the way, when you say Quds vs. Kurds, I thought he said Kurds, this third-rate radio announcer that I did the show (for). It was like 'gotcha, gotcha,'" Trump said.

Local media reports surfaced on Friday that the Trump camp was considering blacklisting Hewitt from future interviews.

It was not the first time Trump took on a major figure in conservative media. Immediately after the first primary debate in August, Trump accused one of the moderators -- Megyn Kelly -- of "unfair treatment" and traded his punch back.

"You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her -- wherever," Trump told CNN after the first debate.

The remarks were seen by many as insinuating that Kelly had been menstruating when she questioned Trump over his past insults to women.

Trump insisted he said nothing wrong and that he values women.

On Aug. 24 when Kelly returned to FOX News after a vacation, Trump wasted little time delivering his follow-up punch.

"@mstanish53: @realDonaldTrump @megynkelly The bimbo back in town. I hope not for long," Trump tweeted. Endit
