Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Friday promised the 24-hour power supply to every household in the country by 2022.

"There are 18,000 villages, which do not have power. In the next 1,000 days, we have taken up the effort to give power to these 18,000 villages," Modi said while speaking with 800 students from nine states.

"In 2022, when India will be celebrating 75 years of Independence, every house should have 24 hours electricity."

Modi, who was responding to a question posed by a student via video-conferencing, said, "Digital India march cannot be stopped and can continue with solar power as well." Endi
