Pakistan's top foreign affairs adviser to visit Kabul on Friday

Xinhua, September 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Pakistan's top foreign affairs adviser, Sartaj Aziz, will tour Kabul on Friday amid diplomatic tensions following a series of attacks in Kabul and other parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani put a stop on Pakistan-brokered peace talks with the Taliban. Kabul had reportedly postponed a meeting of Joint Economic Commission that was scheduled to be held in Islamabad late last month.

"The adviser to the prime minister on national security and foreign affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz, will visit Kabul on 4 September 2015," a foreign ministry statement said.

He will lead the Pakistani delegation in the Ministerial Meeting of the Sixth Regional Economic Conference on Afghanistan ( RECCA-VI).

The adviser will also hold consultations with the Afghan leadership on important bilateral issues, the statement said. Endi
