Quarterly unemployment stable in France

Xinhua, September 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Unemployment in France remained unchanged in the second quarter compared to the previous three months as a decline in the number of job seekers offset a rise in jobless claims of old people without work, national statistics institute, Insee, said Thursday.

In the second quarter, France recorded 2.852 million unemployed people, or 10 percent of the labor force. Unemployment was 0.3 percent higher compared to the same period last year.

Taking into account overseas departments, the quarterly unemployment rate was 10.3 percent in April-June, Insee data showed.

The number of jobless youths aged 15-24 was 625,000, down by 0.6 percent from a quarter earlier. However, there were 0.6 percent more older job seekers over the period. Endi
