Vietnam's mobile Internet speed lowest in Southeast Asia: report

Vietnam has the slowest mobile Internet in Southeast Asia and Oceania region, according to a report by technology firm Ericsson, local online newspaper Thanh Nien (Young People) News reported Thursday.
Vietnam ranked the last among the nine countries surveyed in the region. Singapore topped the list, followed by Australia and Thailand, according to the Ericsson Mobility Report.
The median download speed using mobile data in Vietnam was 160 kbps (kilobits per second), while the average in Singapore was 21, 870 kbps. The median download speed in Australia was 11,190 kbps and in Thailand, 2,380 kbps
With high speed, consumers in Singapore and Australia can use data-intensive applications like video streaming and video calls smoothly.
The analysis was conducted on data gathered from Ookla's speed test service.
Vietnam's mobile Internet speed remains slow as service providers have focused more on expanding the area of coverage.
