Hong Kong holds official ceremony to commemorate 70th anni.of V-Day

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government held an official ceremony at the City Hall Memorial Garden here on Thursday to commemorate the 70th anniversary day of the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression.
The ceremony started at 8 a.m. local time, and consisted of singing of the national anthem, a gun salute, a moment of silence and the laying of wreath in honor of those who fought and died.
Wearing a commemorative medal, war veteran Zou Huazhi said the victory was dearly bought, and Chinese people should not forget the lessons of history.
About 700 people, including acting chief executive John Tsang, HKSAR government officials, judicial officers, an Executive Council member, Legislative Council representative, war veteran group representatives and others attended the ceremony.
The HKSAR government and other civil organizations will hold various activities, including issuing stamp sheetlet, exhibitions, guide tours to war relic, seminars and evening gala, to commemorate the V-Day and help citizens especially the young generation have a better understanding of the history.
